| Memorial pole for Chief Shakes. This pole marks the acceptance of Christianity in the village of Kitkatla. Chief Shakes was the first of the chiefs to accept a Christian lifestyle in the village. The house in the far background belonged to Henry Vickers and the house directly behind the memorial pole (white house) belonged to William Gladstone. |
